What personal data do we collect about you and why we do it

Comments

When a visitor leaves a comment, the data shown in the comment form along with the visitor’s IP address and the browser’s user agents string are all collected to helps us to identify spam.

An anonymous string created by your email address (also called as hash) could be provided to the Gravatar service to check if it is been used by you. The Gravatar service’s privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Your profile image will be visible to others after your comment has been approved.

Media

When uploading images to the website, you should avoid using any of them with location metadata attached(GPS, EXIF). Website visitors could download and extract the location metadata from the images.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you can choose to have your name, email and web address saved into a cookie. This is for your convenience, so you don’t have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

When you already have an account and log in, we will set emporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted after the browser is closed.

When you log in, we will install several cookies also to save your login information and screen display options. Access cookies last two days, and screen option cookies last one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login credentials will last for two weeks. If you log out, your login cookies will be deleted.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be stored in your browser. This cookie does not include any personal data and simply indicates the article ID you have just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other sites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited the other site.

How long we keep your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are preserved indefinitely. This is so that we can recognize and approve successive comments automatically, rather than keeping them in a moderation queue.

Of the users who register on our site (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except that they cannot change their user name). Site administrators can also view and edit this information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account or have left comments on this website, you can request to receive an export file of the personal data we have about you, including any data you have provided. You may also request that we delete any personal data we have about you. This does not include any data that we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.
